М.@rt.kontakt festival in Mogilev canceled over coronavirus

11.03.2020

The international youth theater festival М.@rt.kontakt in Mogilev will not take place this year due to coronavirus fears, head of the cultural department of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee Oleg Stelmashok told a press conference held on 10 March to discuss the epidemiological situation in the country, BelTA has learned.

"The decision was made by the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee and the organizing committee of the festival due to the fact that coronavirus outbreaks had been registered in nine out of 11 participating states," Oleg Stelmashok said.
The festival has been called off to prevent the spread of the novel virus in Belarus.

According to deputy chief medical officer of the Mogilev Oblast Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health Svetlana Nechai, an additional set of epidemiological measures are needed to organize the festival. They require a lot of time, strong organization and financial support.

Tickets, which have already been bought for the festival productions, can be returned to the ticket office of the Mogilev Oblast Drama Theater within a month starting from 12 March. All other cultural events planned in the city will be held according to their schedule.

The 15th edition of the international youth theater forum М.@rt.kontakt has been scheduled to take place in Mogilev on 21-27 March. A total of 24 plays were to be staged on different venues of the city.
