Belarus to take part in WorldSkills Russia in Krasnodar

MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) - Belarus will take part in the Eurasian tournament which will be held as part of the final of the 5th National WorldSkills Championship Russia 2017 (Young Professionals) in Krasnodar, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Institute for Vocational Education.

Team Belarus will be composed of 36 college and university students and young skilled workers under the age of 22. The panel of jury will include 31 Belarusian experts, among them will be industry experts, vocational instructors and teachers.

Participants will compete in 29 skills in six areas: construction, manufacturing, service industry, creativity and design, information technology, civil transport maintenance. An absolutely new skill is geodesy.

Competing in WorldSkills Russia, Russia's largest competition of professional skill by the standards of WorldSkills International, will be 1,200 vocational college and school students, including international competitors. The championships will feature 111 skills.

Following the championships Belarus will name the team to take part, for the second time, in WorldSkills International, the most prestigious world competition of professional skills, due in Abu Dhabi (U.A.E.) in October 2017.

Professional competition WorldSkills has been held every two years for the past 60 years. The competition feeatures young workers, students under 22. The WSI movement currently involves 76 member countries, covering more than 70% of the world's population, including Germany, France, China, the United States, Canada, Russia, and others. WorldSkills is aimed at popularizing the working professions in modern society, contributes to the improvement of their appeal among young people and provides an effective means to achieve the highest standards in every country.
