Extra-budgetary funds to be used for Belarus’ customs infrastructure development

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – Additional extra-budgetary funds are to be allocated for the development of customs infrastructure in Belarus. This is envisaged in Decree No. 256 signed by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The new decree introduces amendments to Decree No. 278 as of 2 June 2009 “On conditions of additional financing of customs and border services”. In line with the new decree, profits of the Beltamozhservice company will be used to build and renovate border checkpoints and improve their physical infrastructure and to co-finance international technical aid programs.

The decree aims to ease burden on the national budget when it comes to financing customs infrastructure development. It will allow completing the renovation of the Urbany and Verkhny Terebezhov checkpoints on the border with Latvia and Ukraine before the start of the 2nd European Games. It will also help raise about €15 million in foreign investment, the press service noted.
