New church consecrated in Mogilev District
The Church in honor of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist located at the Buinichi Field Memorial Complex was consecrated on 22 December, the press office of the Mogilev Eparchy told BelTA.
“The Buinichi Field is one of the most remarkable spots in Mogilev District. It attracts a great number of tourists every year. We needed a church here so that people could pray for the souls of those who defended Mogilev. Moreover, the construction of the church has become an important milestone in the history of the agrotown of Buinichi. Up until now, they had not had a church”, remarked the press office.
The Church in honor of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist has been constructed in memory of those who heroically defended Mogilev in 1941. Back then the city dwellers and the Red Army soldiers had been defending the city for 23 days. The construction of the church started in 2017.
