Belarusian BelAZ to increase dump trucks output by 30% in 2018

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – By year-end 2018, BelAZ will produce up to 800 dump trucks, up by 30% compared to 2017, BelAZ Director General Piotr Parkhomchik told reporters on 25 September, BelTA has learned.

“The year 2017 saw a sharp spike in all financial and economic indicators of the company. The enterprise rolled out 615 dump trucks and sold 646. In H1 2018 BelAZ produced 407 dump trucks, by the year-end the figure will be close to 800,” Piotr Parkhomchik informed.

He emphasized that BelAZ had already equaled the performance of 2017. “The demand for dump trucks in 2017 rose, which pushed export and net profit upwards,” the director general noted.

BelAZ has plans to introduce flexible manufacturing systems into production. “It envisages virtually unmanned manufacturing using robotic devices, totally computer-aided production involving digital technologies. We announced a tender and seven international companies have already submitted their bid offers. The amount in question is $50-70 million,” Piotr Parkhomchik said. When asked what impact the new technology will have on manpower, he emphasized: “This will be a new area of business; it will complement what we do now”.

BelAZ has no vacancies right now. “Even if we have openings, these are usually meant for engineers and manufacturing technicians. The average salary at the company stands at Br1,600-1,700,” the director general noted.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ designs and manufactures mining vehicles and special-purpose vehicles using innovative technologies. Over the course of 70 years the company has made over 500 various modifications of haul trucks and utility vehicles, has assembled some 146,000 vehicles. It sells its products in 80 countries. The company boasts the world’s biggest lineup of dump trucks.
