Kochanova discusses bonuses for health workers

01.04.2022

Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova hosted a meeting of an expert board under the Council of the Republic on 31 March. The meeting discussed financial incentives for healthcare workers and social workers, BelTA learned from the press service of the upper house of the Belarusian parliament.

The expert board analyzed the approaches set out in Presidential Decree No. 131 “On financial incentives for healthcare workers” as of 16 April 2020, Decree No. 143 “On supporting the economy” as of 24 April 2020 and Decree No. 169 “On financial incentives for social workers” as of 18 May 2020. It was noted during the meeting that the bonuses for healthcare workers that were paid during the pandemic played a significant role in ensuring the sustainable operation of the healthcare sector and helped maintain accessibility and quality of medical care.

In order to improve the system of financial incentives, the healthcare sector will retain the funds that were meant as bonuses for frontline medical workers during the pandemic. It is important to maintain the current level of wages, including average wages.

It was recalled that when visiting state-run healthcare facilities of Mogilev Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave an instruction to make sure that salaries of healthcare and social workers that rose during the pandemic due to bonuses should not drop when the epidemiological situation improves.
