12.11.2021

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko heard out a report of Chairman of Belarus' Investigative Committee Dmitry Gora on 12 November, BelTA informs.

According to the head of state, Dmitry Gora was appointed chairman of the Investigative Committee not long ago – in March 2021.

“In our terms these are two years. One year for two or even for three. Especially in the situation we had last year. This year the situation is not easy either. Your colleagues and you have to deal with all the previous issues and problems. There have been many unresolved cases. Please tell me about your progress,” the president asked.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also asked about the atmosphere in investigative bodies. “What can you say about the patriotism and commitment to the Belarusian people and law of our employees in the Investigative Committee? It is also important,” he stressed. “You are not new person in investigative bodies. I once said that you can quickly sort out the situation and organize the normal operation of the Investigative Committee, to continue the good traditions created by its previous leaders.”

“I do not need a self-report about what you have done and have not done. I have read all the materials. Please brief on the issue that I am concerned about as president and the issues that I have outlined. Of course, tell about the future prospects. If you see that you need my help and assistance, please tell me, and I will do my best,” the head of state said. “Yes, the Investigative Committee has founded a decade ago. That's not much. However, we were not limited by stopgap measures, like they did in some former Soviet republic. Our Investigative Committee has a broad range of powers. Back then we believed that the Investigative Committee should be a strong body in charge of the investigation of all criminal cases. What have you achieved in the past 10 years? What else do you need to do?”

According to Dmitry Gora, the Investigative Committee is ready to fulfill all tasks within the framework of the law and national interests. “There will not be any fluctuations, no doubts. We will do everything for the benefit of the state, and people are prepared for it. I am saying this will full confidence,” he stressed.
