Winter cereals for grain planted on 82.2% of area in Belarus

 Belarusian agricultural workers have planted winter cereals for grain on 1.260 million hectares, which is 82.2% of the plan, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

 

Belarusian agricultural enterprises have harvested cereals and leguminous crops (including maize) from 2.205 million hectares, which is 89.3% of the targeted area. Progress was at 92% (369,800ha) in Brest Oblast, 98.5% (352,300ha) in Vitebsk Oblast, 86.1% (359,400ha) in Gomel Oblast, 89.4% (318,100ha) in Grodno Oblast, 86.2% (466,200ha) in Minsk Oblast, and 86% (340,100ha) in Mogilev Oblast. All in all, 8.269 million tonnes of grain was threshed by agricultural enterprises and private farms.

 

Maize for grain has been harvested from an area of 38,400ha (12.7%), producing 279,700 tonnes with the average yield at 72.9 centners per hectare. Sugar beet has been harvested from 40,700ha, which makes up 43.6% of the targeted area. Potatoes have been cleared from the area of 18,000 hectares or 69.1% of the plan. Other vegetables have been harvested from 3,600ha or 53.3% of the targeted area.

 

Belarusian agricultural workers have cleared 641,500 hectares of land under maize meant for silage and green fodder, which is 69% of the plan.
