Mogilev Regional Executive Committee
31 March 2021

Fishing restrictions will be in effect in the Mogilev region from April 1 to May 30

Fishing restrictions will be in effect in the Mogilev region from April 1 to May 30. Such information is posted on the website of the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora under the President of Belarus.

“Conservation measures are necessary to create favorable conditions during the fish spawning period. It is forbidden to get narrow-clawed (long-clawed) crayfish at the same time, ”the inspection said.

During the spawning ban, recreational fishing is not completely prohibited, but significantly limited: you can fish with only one rod with one hook or one spinning rod equipped with artificial bait, with one single or double, or triple hook during daylight hours from the shore (without entering the water ) or from ice, from artificial structures (except for those listed in the Rules for the conduct of fisheries and fishing).

The use of any other gear or fishing method during the ban period is considered a violation and is subject to a fine in the amount of 10 (Br290) to 30 (Br870) base units. For fish caught in a prohibited way or with a tool, the offender is obliged to compensate for the damage, which during the spawning prohibition period is calculated at triple rates. Causing harm in the amount of 100 (Br2.9 thousand) or more base values is the basis for initiating a criminal case.

Throughout the entire period of the ban, citizens are prohibited from using small boats - not only for fishing, but also for other purposes.

The terms of the general spring ban overlap with the spawning prohibitions established separately for some types of fish - pike, pike perch, catfish. Such fish caught during the period of the ban on the catch of a particular species must be released back into the reservoir.
