Iranian Embassy ready to facilitate return of its citizens from Belarus-EU border

The Iranian Embassy is ready to facilitate the return of its citizens to their homeland from the refugee shelter in the transport and logistics center Bruzgi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus Saeed Yari told the media following a meeting with Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Karanik on 20 December, BelTA has learned.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues related primarily to the development of cooperation in economic and other areas. The situation with refugees on the Belarusian-Polish border was on the agenda too.

"We asked the regional administration to provide maximum assistance to the Iranian citizens currently living in the Bruzgi transport and logistics center. Should they decide to come back home, we would like to be notified. We are ready to facilitate their return," Ambassador Saeed Yari said.

He stressed that there are not many Iranian nationals there. "But even a few people are very important to us," Ambassador Saeed Yari noted.
