The international action "Earth Hour" will take place on March 27 . This was reported in the Mogilev regional department for supervision over the rational use of fuel and energy resources.
On this day, residents of the region are invited to join the event and turn off the lights for one hour from 20.30 to 21.30.
The action will take place in Belarus for the 13th time. Its essence is to turn off the lights and unnecessary electrical appliances at home or in the office for 60 minutes, to try to make respect for natural resources a permanent habit. “Agreeing with the terms of the action, its participants raise to the surface the problems of climate change, energy conservation and resource conservation in general, show their solidarity and concern with these topics,” the interlocutors stressed.
The theme of "Earth Hour - 2021" this year is "Openness of Environmental Information". “The action calls on people to change simple daily habits, to economically use electricity and heat, which complies with the provisions of the Directive of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 3 dated June 14, 2007,” the department noted.
The Earth Hour, initiated by the World Wildlife Fund, is the most famous environmental action in the history of mankind. More than 2 billion people in 188 countries take part in it annually, the illumination of more than 18 thousand architectural monuments goes out. Held on the last Saturday of March, it calls on everyone - individuals, businesses, educational institutions, government and commercial organizations - to turn off the lights and other non-vital electrical appliances (except for elevators) for one hour in order to stimulate interest in the problem of climate change, the energy unification of mankind.
