Smooth operation of Belarusian border guard system praised

Belarus is forced to adequately respond to unscrupulous actions of Western partners, who violate norms and principles of international law. State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich made the statement at a session of the board of the State Border Committee of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

According to the state secretary of the Security Council, all kinds of provocations are still registered at the border as part of the migration crisis staged by Belarus' neighbors. Attempts continue to push back to Belarus groups of refugees, who request asylum in Poland. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees drew attention of the Polish government to violations of international commitments and the inhumane attitude to migrants, however, there has been no reaction.

Aleksandr Volfovich stressed: “In these conditions the border service continues effectively protecting and guarding the border in addition to systemically working on comprehensively improving various aspects of its work. The combat readiness of the units remains high. The border infrastructure is growing. More troops are being deployed to guard the border.”

While evaluating the border service's performance in 2021, Aleksandr Volfovich said: “One can say with complete confidence that the system designed to protect the state border of Belarus from outside encroachments operates smoothly.”

At the same time the official stated that 2022 will also be an intensive year for the government agencies belonging to the national security system. Military buildup and NATO activity continue in the regions that border on Belarus. All of it requires the adoption of timely measures to neutralize risks and challenges to national security.
