Work to set up polling sites for Belarusian referendum almost over
Work to set up polling stations for the national referendum on constitutional amendments is nearing completion, Chairman of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko told BelTA.
"We have set up 153 territorial commissions. Today is the last day for the setting up of polling stations. How many We will know the exact number tomorrow. During the presidential elections in 2020, there were 5,723 of them in the country," Igor Karpenko said.
“We must complete setting up precinct commissions no later than 6 February,” he added.
On 20 January Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No.14 “On calling the nationwide referendum”. The main voting day is 27 February. Belarusians also have the opportunity to cast their votes during the period from 22 to 26 February.
