Belarus, China to draw up roadmap of military cooperation


Minsk and Beijing will develop a roadmap of military and military-technical cooperation. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin and member of Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China Zhang Youxia, BelTA learned from the press service of the Defense Ministry.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of joint training of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Belarus and the People's Liberation Army of China, in particular, the Belarusian-Chinese joint anti-terrorist exercise of special forces units of the Armed Forces of Belarus and China. The parties also talked about the participation of teams of Chinese servicemen in the competitions of the International Army Games to be hosted by Belarus.

In addition, the heads of delegations discussed cooperation in military personnel training, joint participation in activities to maintain international peace and security under the auspices of the UN.

Viktor Khrenin noted that new challenges and threats necessitate taking joint steps, while "in the current foreign political conditions, the relations between Belarus and China can serve as an example for others." "Despite the growing international confrontation and sanctions pressure, cooperation with China is on a growth trajectory for Belarus. The high degree of trust in our relations allows us to find solutions to all issues in any situation," the minister stressed.

As BelTA has reported, the Belarusian military delegation headed by Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin is in China on an official visit.
