Belarusian farmers gather in 231,900t of silage

MINSK, 21 June (BelTA) – Belarusian farmers have gathered in 231,900 of silage so far, the Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

 

As of 21 June as part of the first cutting farmers cut down grass on 45.5% of the targeted area in Vitebsk Oblast, 93.1% in Gomel Oblast, 81.6% in Grodno Oblast, 90.1% in Minsk Oblast, and 78.6% in Mogilev Oblast. Brest Oblast farmers have hit the first grass cutting target already.

 

Grass was harvested from 949,700ha of land, 71.4% of the area where grass has been cut. Belarusian farmers made 132,800 tonnes of hay (13.9% of the target), 5.630 million tonnes of haylage (41.9%), and 231,900 tonnes of silage (1.21%).

 

Plans have been made to make a total of 9.6 million tonnes of feed units out of grass this year. So far 17.7% of the targeted amount has been made. Belarusian farmers are supposed to stock up on nearly 19.8 million tonnes of silage, 13.2 million tonnes of haylage (including 1 million tonnes in polymeric packaging), and 955,200 tonnes of hay.
