Belarusian nuclear power plant produces 18bn kWh of electricity
Since the first unit was connected to the national power grid the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) has generated more than 18 billion kWh of electricity, Belarusian Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk told the media after the grand opening of the City Day celebrations in Ostrovets, BelTA has learned.
According to him, this made it possible for the country to replace about 5 billion cubic meters of gas. "This is a significant economic effect. This project is the most important in the post-Soviet space," the deputy minister stressed.
The BelNPP second unit is to be put into commercial operation this autumn. In September, comprehensive tests will be completed. After that, the acceptance committee will begin its work.
