Over 114,000 deposit accounts opened under Belarus' family capital program
MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – As of 1 June 2022, a total of 114,168 deposit accounts were opened for large families under Belarus' family capital program, including 82,500 deposit accounts at the total amount of $825 million and 31,700 deposit accounts at the total amount of Br739 million, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Labor and Social Security Ministry.
As of 1 June 2022, 55,794 families applied for permission to use family capital ahead of schedule. Of them, 48,199 applied to use the money to improve housing conditions, 3,078 to pay for education, 4,515 to receive healthcare services, and two to buy health products for disabled people.
The ministry granted permission to use family capital earlier to 53,539 applicants. Most of such applicants are from Brest Oblast (11,339). Then goes Minsk Oblast with 9,156 families, Gomel Oblast with 8,706, the city of Minsk with 7,540, and Grodno Oblast with 6,217. Mogilev Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast round out the list with 5,385 and 5,196 applicants respectively.
The Labor and Social Security Ministry noted that the family capital program applies to families raising three and more children. From 1 January 2022 the family capital equals Br25,995.
