Sergeyenko: Government must address people's issues in the most earnest way

CHAUSY DISTRICT, 20 January (BelTA) – The authorities must deal with people's issues in the most earnest way, because they serve the people and work for them, Head of the Belarus President Administration Igor Sergeyenko said at a workshop for the heads of the district and city executive committees of Mogilev Oblast, BelTA has learned.

According to Igor Sergeyenko, at the beginning of the year, officials are traditionally given tasks taking into account the requirements of the head of state, and socio-economic performance in respective districts over the past period is reviewed. During the workshop, the heads of city and district executive committees were updated on amendments to laws. The meeting discussed requirements for personnel and the formation of a personnel register; informational and ideological work, social security issues and all other important matters.

“Today we have had a frank exchange of views, including on other issues. This is a good opportunity for the executives to communicate directly with each other, exchange best practices, share expertise and knowledge. Critical remarks were also voiced, because power means responsibility and it is very important that officials get a food feedback from people for their work. In particular, we discussed how people's appeals and complaints were handled and what issues concerned the public the most. The authorities must address people's issues in the most earnest way, because they serve the people and work for them,” he said.

The theme of the week-long seminar is “The effectiveness of public administration in modern conditions and the role of the heads of local executive and administrative bodies in its improvement”. The event is taking place at the Rudeya sports and recreation center run by the Mogilev School of the Olympic Reserve in Chausy District.
