Belarus, Bangladesh aim at closer economic, parliamentary ties

MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – Sergei Rakhmanov, Chairman of the International Affairs and National Security Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, has held a meeting with Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, BelTA learnt from the press service of the upper house of the Belarusian parliament.

The working meeting was held as part of the 136th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union which was underway in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 1-5 April. “The parties took note of traditionally friendly mutual relations between the parliaments and the results reached in bilateral cooperation, including the supplies of Amkodor road and construction equipment worth $50 million to Bangladesh,” the press service said.

Sergei Rakhmanov and Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury expressed hope for closer parliamentary and economic ties between the two countries.
